It was a normal, warm, and cloudy day at the park. Everyone was working regularly and it was almost time for their breaks. After a long day of working hard and making sure every employee stayed on task, especially Mordecai and Rigby, Benson decided to take a quick break under his favorite tree. Even though it wasn't sunny he liked to sit under the tree to take naps and the breeze that passes there was very calming.
"I'll just relax here for a few minutes," Benson said to him self as he sat down, closed his eyes and dozed off. Twenty minutes later, everyone headed inside for their lunch. Pops was seated on his couch and noticed that someone was missing. Someone. But who? It took him a while untill he finally realized who was missing. "Benson." He said to himself.
Just then Mordecai and Rigby passed by. "Pardon me, Gentleman, but have you seen Benson?" Pops asked.
"Uh, yeah, I think he was sitting under some tree or something before we came inside," Mordecai replied.
"Oh dear," Pops said as he looked out the window. It had already started drizzling. Then he spotted Benson, dozed off under his favorite tree. Then he walked out of the house to go and wake up Benson. When he got to Benson, he noticed that he looked strangely pale. He ignored it and placed his hand on Benson's shoulder, shaking him awake. "Benson, please do wake up. Everyone's inside and it appears to be raining." Benson slowly opened his eyes. It took him seconds to realize Pops was sitting by his side.
"Hmm," was all he replied.
"Come, lets get you inside," the Lolliman suggested as he helped Benson to his feet. Benson tried hard to stand and walk but failed since he kept losing his balance various times. That was when Pops placed Benson's arm around his shoulder and helped him walk to the house. His body felt strangely warm, but Pops ignored it.
When they finally enter the house, cold and wet, Pops placed Benson on the couch while he went to the kitchen to makes him some tea and one for himself too. Benson just lyed down on the couch, still tired, and dozed off. He felt slightly strange and he only thought he felt tired, nothing much. On the other hand, Skips knew that Benson looked and acted strange today. He was pale, didn't yell at all, and he looked tired all day. Skips placed his hand on Benson's forehead. He nodded and went to the bathroom to grab a thermometer.
Finally, Pops came in the living room with mug full of tea. "Oh jolly, Benson, I know you're going to enjoy this cup of tea," Pops said excitedly. Then he realized Benson alseep at the couch. "Oh dear, such a tired little thing," he said smiling as he went and came back with a warm blanket and placed it on Benson's body. Skips came back with the thermometer. He lifted Benson's head slowly. As if on cue, he slowly opened his eyes but quickly placed his hands on them, sheilding them from the bright light. He tried to talk but all he could do was pant a little.
"Open your mouth," Skips instructed him. Benson did as he was told and Skips placed the cold thermometer under his tongue. After a minute or two, he removed the thermometer that read '103.2. "Yup, I knew it," Skips sighed and told Benson, "You're spending the night here. You're in no condition in going home alone."
"But, it's not that bad, Skips," Benson tried to sound convincing but Skips wasn't going to take any of it.
"With a temperature that high, you're not going anywhere," Skips informed his boss.
"Oh I agree, certainly," Pops stated. "You can stay in the spare room across from mine and you give me a holler if you need anything."
"Lets get you into bed then," Skips said as he lifted Benson and made his way upstairs with Pops following along behind with the mug of tea in hand.
On the way upstairs, Mordecai asked, "What's wrong with Benson?"
"Yeah, he looks all pale and green and blah," Rigby stated disgusted.
"He isn't feeling well so he's spending the night here in the house," Skips said as he made his way to the spare room and layed Benson down on the cool bed. He groaned as he curled, shivering under the blankets.
"Here this should help," Skips told Benson as he grabbed the tea mug from Pops. He lifted Benson's head and fed him the warm tea. He took a couple of sips.
"Thanks Skips, Pops," Benson whispered, feeling relaxed and warm.
"No problem. Finish the rest of your tea," Skips intructed. As Benson slowly drank his tea, he litterally fell asleep leaving his head loose on Skips arm. He felt the dead weight and lyed Benson down.
"Tea has always calmed him down on stressful days," Pops whispered to Skips as they made their way out of the room, leaving a sick, sleeping Benson behind.
Later on, Skips rounded up a meeting with the rest of the employees. Once he got everyones attension, he annonced that Benson wasn't feeling well and will be off the rest of the night. With that, Mordecai and Rigby high fived each other as Muscle man and High five ghost did the same. They all looked forward to a night of slacking off.
